About Gateshead Heat Pumps
This site exists to get Gateshead homeowners a free, surveyed, itemised price for air source heat pump work from one independent MCS certified local contractor, with the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme application handled as part of the job and straight advice given before any pitch.
Mention heat pumps in a Gateshead pub and you will collect two confident opinions inside five minutes, one saying they never warm a house properly and the other saying the bills vanish. Neither survives contact with the evidence, and both persist for the same reason: buying one is genuinely hard to judge. Two contractors can price the same Low Fell semi thousands apart and neither will explain why, because the reasoning stays hidden inside a single headline figure. The difference between a careful design and a lazy one only becomes obvious on the first February bill, by which point the money has gone. This site exists to drag that difference into the open beforehand, through measured surveys, written design temperatures and prices broken into lines you can argue with.
How it runs
You describe the property, the current heating and the postcode. One independent local contractor then attends, measures every room, examines walls, glazing, exposure and possible cylinder positions, and returns with a design and a cost in writing. The same standard applies whether the job is a full installation, a swap, a hybrid, a service, a grant application or a standalone survey.
Standards the contractor works to
- MCS certification, non-negotiable. No certificate means no £7,500 grant, so it gets confirmed first.
- Heat loss measured room by room to MCS 3005. An estimate from floor area is not a design.
- Flow temperature stated on the quote. That single figure reveals more about the engineering than any brand name.
- Line-by-line pricing: machine, cylinder, emitters, pipework, electrics and commissioning each priced separately.
- A willingness to say no: an upper flat with nowhere to stand a unit, a villa needing fabric work first, a property with no cylinder space. Said early and in writing.
- One contractor per enquiry. Details are not circulated further.
Who runs it
The site is owned by 360 Media Works Ltd of Stockton-on-Tees, founded by Simon Hogben. Contractors are checked for MCS registration, insurance and references before any enquiry reaches them, and they pay an introduction fee on work they win. Homeowners pay nothing, and that fee never gets folded into the quoted price.
